What is an Employment Pass

The Employment Pass (EP) is your ticket to living and working in one of Asia's most exciting economies. It's basically a work visa for highly-skilled foreign professionals and business owners. ATHR can help you secure an EP within 6 months and you don't even have to fly in until it's processed.

If you're already rocking one and want to switch companies, we've got you covered with even faster turnover times. Once you have it, your EP will remain valid from 1-2 years, subject to the discretion of Singapore's Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

Your EP is about to expire. What now?

Don't panic! You can apply to renew your EP online through MOM's website up to 6 months before the expiry date (3 months for Sponsorhip). If you miss the deadline, you'll need to apply for a new pass.

Typically, your employer or an employment agent can handle the application for you. It takes about 3 weeks to process but some cases may take longer if additional information or verification is needed.

Once your pass is renewed it will remain valid for 3 years starting from the previous expiry date.

For Singaporeans and PRs
What do I need to start my own company in Singapore?

Ready to start your own business? To incorporate a company in Singapore, you'll need at least one shareholder, one director, and a company secretary. Your director must be a Singapore resident but the shareholder can be anyone - even your friend. And don't worry if you don't have an office space yet - you can use our registered office service.

For Singaporeans and PRs
What are the steps for incorporating a Singapore company?

The first step is choosing a good name for your business. Then, register with ACRA (Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority) and get all necessary permits and licenses depending on what you're planning to sell or provide. Finally, open a corporate bank account so you're ready to receive payments from happy customers. But don’t worry if that all sounds like a lot of work. At ATHR, we do all the heavy-lifting for you while you focus on getting your business off the ground!

For Foreigners
How long does it take to incorporate my company?

We know time is money when it comes to starting your own business. Typically, it takes around 1-2 days to register your company with ACRA. However, this can vary depending on factors such as how fast you decide on a name or if additional approvals are required.

For Singaporeans and PRs
What can I use as my registered address?

Your registered address must be a physical address located in Singapore where all official correspondence will be sent. This can be your home address (if allowed by HDB/URA) or you can use our registered office service which provides you with an affordable option without needing an actual physical office space.

For Singaporeans and PRs
Do I need a Corporate Secretary?

Yes! ACRA actually requires every Singapore business to hire one within 6 months after incorporation and this position cannot be vacant for more than 6 months. Your Corporate Secretary must be a Singapore resident, but don't worry--you can easily outsource this service to us!

For Singaporeans and PRs
Can I take the role of director for my company?

Of course. As long as you're a Singapore resident, you can become the director of your own company. This means making important decisions about the future of your business - exciting stuff! Just remember that being the big boss also comes with certain responsibilities like managing finances or operations so make sure you're ready for that role before taking it on.

For Foreigners
What are the requirements for incorporating a Singapore company?

If you're a foreigner looking to start your own business in Singapore, you'll need to appoint at least one local director who is a resident of Singapore. No worries if you don't know anyone - you can hire professional service providers like ATHR to help register your company with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). You'll also need to have a minimum paid-up capital of S$1.

For Foreigners
Can foreigners set up a business in Singapore?

Yes! Foreigners can definitely start their own businesses in Singapore. However, it's important to comply with government regulations and requirements by registering your company with ACRA and obtaining all necessary licenses and permits depending on your business activities.

For Foreigners
Do I need a registered company address?

Yes, you do. Your company will need a registered address in Singapore for official correspondence and legal purposes. You can use your own residential or commercial address or engage the services of professionals like Aptvise that provide registered office services.

For Foreigners
Can a business owner relocate to Singapore?

Absolutely! If you're a foreign business owner looking to relocate to Singapore, you may apply for an Employment Pass or Entrepreneur Pass depending on your qualifications and experience. The Employment Pass is ideal for foreign professionals employed by companies registered in Singapore while the Entrepreneur Pass is perfect for foreign entrepreneurs who want to run their own businesses there.

For Foreigners
How can I check if a company is incorporated in Singapore?

To check if a company has been incorporated in Singapore, simply conduct an online search on ACRA's directory called BizFile+. Just enter the name of the company or its registration number to retrieve information such as its registered address, directors' names and shareholdings.
